About Satsuki-ryu Japanese Dance

The Satsuki-ryu is a school of Japanese dance that was established in 1975 by its founder, Senno Satsuki, when he left the Bando School, where he had studied under Bando Mitsugoro VIII. At the time, Senno (known as Sensuke at the time) began his activities as the head of the Satsuki-ryu.

In 1978, Sen'o's daughter, Chiwaka (now Sensuke II), took over as the second head of the school. With Sensuke as head of the school and Chiwaka as head of the family, the two have worked together to develop the school.

In 2006, Sensuke became the founder of the school, "Satsuki Seno," and Senwaka took on the name of "Second Generation Sensuke," serving as both head of the school and head of the family. On July 30th of the same year, a grand performance was held at the National Theatre to celebrate the succession.

Next, Satsuki Hikaru, the daughter of Sensuke II, took on the stage name "Senwaka III". In 2013, she inherited the iemoto position, and Sensuke became the full-time head of the family. On April 27th of the same year, the third generation's stage performance to celebrate her name change was held over two days at the National Theatre, captivating the audience.

Currently, under the supervision of the first founder, Satsuki Seno, the Satsuki-ryu is led by the second Sensuke and the third Senwaka, and is engaged in a wide range of activities such as managing the school, instructing disciples, and performing on stage. Please keep an eye on the Satsuki-ryu's performances, which continue to take on new challenges while protecting tradition.
